Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Job Position: Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Location: Swan Quarter, NC 27885

Pay Rate: $35-45/hr

 

Position Summary

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) provides school-based mental health services to support the academic, social, and emotional success of students. The LCSW conducts assessments, provides counseling, creates treatment plans, collaborates with families and staff, and ensures compliance with North Carolina state laws and ethical standards. This position is integral to promoting a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Student Support

Provide individual, group, and crisis counseling using evidence-based practices.

Conduct mental health assessments and develop treatment and intervention plans.

Support students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or family-related challenges.

Implement interventions that promote positive behavior, self-regulation, and social-emotional skills.

Crisis Intervention

Respond to mental health crises, including risk assessments for suicide, self-harm, or threats of harm.

Participate in crisis response teams and develop safety plans.

Coordinate with community crisis agencies when needed.

Collaboration & Consultation

Work closely with teachers, administrators, school counselors, psychologists, and nurses to support student well-being.

Provide consultation on behavioral interventions and trauma-informed practices.

Participate in MTSS, IEP, and 504 meetings as appropriate.

Family & Community Engagement

Engage families to support student mental health and provide education on available resources.

Refer students and families to community agencies for additional services, including DSS, mental health providers, and crisis centers.

Maintain strong partnerships with county mental health agencies and service providers.

Compliance & Documentation

Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with NC state law, FERPA, and NASW ethical standards.

Complete documentation for Medicaid billing (if applicable).

Follow all North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) and district policies related to mental health services.

Program Development

Support schoolwide social-emotional learning initiatives.

Assist in developing prevention programs related to bullying, substance use, attendance, and mental health awareness.

Provide professional development for staff on trauma-informed care and student mental health needs.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.

Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in the State of North Carolina (full licensure required; LCSWA may vary by district).

Experience working with children and adolescents in school, clinical, or community settings.

Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practices, de-escalation, and crisis intervention.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.

Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a school setting or with school-age populations.

Familiarity with MTSS, PBIS, SEL frameworks, and IEP/504 processes.

Training in evidence-based interventions (CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, etc.).
