Position Title:  Vermont Innovation Summer 2026: Marketing and Operations Intern

Vermont Innovation Summer 2026

This opportunity is part of Middlebury College’s Vermont Innovation Summer cohort program, sponsored by the Innovation Hub. This program supports students working with companies across Burlington’s innovation ecosystem. Vermont Innovation Summer internships will run from June 8—July 31, 2026.  Students will receive a $5000 funding award through Innovation Hub at Middlebury College.  For more information about Vermont Innovation Summer, please contact Dana Anderson at danaa@middlebury.edu.

This position comes with access to affordable, fee-based dormitory housing through Champlain College in Burlington. More information will be available in March upon the intern’s offer of employment, however students will need to accept housing by April 1 in order to secure their spot.  ELIGIBILITY: Interns must have at least a semester left at Middlebury following the conclusion of the internship to qualify. This position is not open to graduating seniors.

About Hula 

Hula is on a mission to elevate Vermont entrepreneurs and spark connections that grow community from a 14-acre innovation hub on the shores of Lake Champlain in Burlington’s South End Innovation District. The Hula campus supports founders and growing companies with access to workspace, capital, programming, and a deeply connected entrepreneurial ecosystem along with hosting a broader community of changemakers and remote workers.


 

Position Overview 

Hula seeks a motivated and tech-savvy Middlebury College intern to strengthen our virtual community and data systems. We encourage and welcome students from diverse backgrounds to apply. This internship will support technical innovation at Hula, including Marketing process automations, system creation and the associated analytics and tech integrations, all aimed at improving the productivity of Hula’s Marketing team.   The core focus will be to build out a system that helps Hula Marketing & Communications share and amplify messages with a host of partner organizations . The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for community building and technology. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Build out the operational system that enables marketing amplification through CBOs and similar partners (ex. King street center, LCC).  This project likely harnesses the newly unlocked power of Hubspot (at least in part) to engineer a system that coordinates messaging flow through CBOs.

 

Key Deliverables:

  • Current state vs. desired state gap analysis, including using surveys and partner interviews to create a strong situational understanding.
  • Project plan to deliver desired state
  • Execution of plan (i.e. a CBO-as-marketing-amplification system)
  • Insights engagement with partners


 

Qualifications: 

● Enrolled at Middlebury College, preferably studying Communications, Business, Technology, or a related field. 

● Strong interest in community building, innovation, and technology. 

● Familiarity with Slack, Hubspot or similar platforms is a plus. 

● Excellent organizational, project and time management skills. 

● Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

● Proactive, resourceful, and eager to learn.
