[Startup] Founding Engineer (New Grads)
About Us
Cimento AI is revolutionizing cybersecurity training by using AI to build resilient, security-conscious teams. We're backed by operators and angels from Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, Okta, etc.
We value creative spark over credentials and high agency over process. If you've shipped side projects, contributed to open source, or built things that matter to you, we want to talk.
About The Role
As a founding engineer joining right out of school, you'll get responsibility most new grads don't see for years. You'll ship features that customers use, contribute to architectural decisions, and work directly with users to turn feedback into product. This is a ground-floor opportunity to learn what early-stage building actually looks like alongside a small, high-trust team.
We're looking for someone who generates ideas (not just code), treats AI as a tool for velocity (not a strategy), and ships instead of waiting on process.
What You'll Do
- Build and ship adaptive phishing simulations that use LLMs to evolve based on user risk, role, and behavior
- Design and implement infrastructure for ingesting real-time behavioral signals like decision latency and user telemetry
- Create interfaces that help security teams visualize and act on human risk data
- Join customer calls and turn their feedback directly into features you build
- Contribute to technical decisions about architecture, tooling, and patterns that scale
- Write clean, well-tested code across the full stack (Go, TypeScript, NextJS, Postgres)
- Use AI coding tools to move faster and focus on high-impact problems
What We're Looking For
- Graduating in 2026 Summer (or recently graduated) with a degree in CS, or a related field
- You've built something non-trivial - a side project with users, meaningful open source contributions, research code that actually works, a senior project you're proud of
- Strong fundamentals: you can talk through data structures, algorithms, and system design tradeoffs
- You default to shipping: when you're stuck, you try things instead of overthinking
- Comfortable with ambiguity and asking good questions when you need help
- You've used AI coding tools and understand when they help vs. when they get in the way
- Previous internship experience at a startup, security company, or comparable tech environment
Bonus Points
- You know (or have played with) Go, TypeScript, NextJS, Postgres, or AWS
- You have a GitHub we can browse, technical blog posts, or a portfolio that shows how you think
- You've built something with LLMs or have opinions about prompt engineering and AI tooling
What We Offer
- Meaningful equity as one of the first 10 employees
- Competitive salary
- Direct impact on product, customers, and company direction
- A small team where your work is visible and valued
- We sponsor TN visas and support OPT for eligible candidates.
