Full-time Production Management Internship
The Actors Theatre Workshop (ATW) is seeking highly motivated, idealistic go-getters for our Production Management Internship & Leadership Training Program. This is an intensive, hands-on opportunity to support our upcoming spring programs that focus on creativity, community support, and artistic expression.
Interns will work directly with our senior management team and our Artistic Director, Thurman E. Scott, to organize our spring season of programs: Builders of the New World (BNW), our award-winning flagship program providing weekly sessions of creative classes for children experiencing homelessness, on the spectrum, or at-risk; Play Reading Series, featuring original chosen plays that explore the theme “Finding Hope Through Darkness”; Creating Hope Through Stories: Finding Connection in Modern America, a scholarship, community workshop series taught by our Artistic Director; Open Mic Nights, a series of live community open mics. You will gain a 360-degree view of how non-profit theater programs operate, moving from high-level outreach to the physical execution of live events.
Responsibilities
- Outreach & Recruitment: Act as a primary liaison to recruit volunteers, students, and community partners. Perform outreach to local organizations to build sustainable partnerships.
- Production Coordination: Manage and engage in vital communications and set-up during the lead-up to and execution of spring productions.
- Resource Development: Organize and facilitate in-kind donations (materials, food, supplies) essential for production support.
- On-Site Logistics: Engage in the physical aspects of production, including set-up and on-site coordination for events and community programs.
Qualifications
We are looking for individuals who believe that theater can change lives and make the world a better place.
- Initiative & Ingenuity: The ability to use creativity to deliver results in a non-profit environment where resources may be limited.
- Action-Oriented: A "can-do" attitude with the ability to work independently.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills; comfortable on the phone and in-person with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience: Preferred background in theater, film or children’s program production. A deep interest in leadership, arts management, or social justice.
- Duration: Spring Season (typically 2–6 months, with opportunities to extend).
