Eligibility & Housing
This opportunity is part of Middlebury College’s Vermont Innovation Summer cohort program, sponsored by the Innovation Hub. This program supports students working with companies across Burlington’s innovation ecosystem. Vermont Innovation Summer internships will run from June 8—July 31, 2026, but the Vermont Green Internship is shifted earlier to the dates of May 18 - July 14, with a potential extension through August 4th pending playoffs. This position can access affordable, fee-based dormitory housing through Champlain College *. More information will be available in March upon the intern’s offer of employment.
ELIGIBILITY: Interns must have at least a semester left at Middlebury following the conclusion of the internship to qualify. This position is not open to graduating seniors.

About Vermont Green Football Club
We’re a minor league soccer club with a men’s and a women’s team. The season runs from early May to early August. We play home matches at the University of Vermont’s Virtue Field, and our office and operations are based in Shelburne, VT.
The Club exists for two reasons: to provide the highest level of soccer in Vermont and be a catalyst for a more environmentally sustainable and socially just world.
We sold out all 18 home matches in 2025, with an average attendance of 2,700 supporters at each match!
Position Summary
This is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about community engagement through sport. Vermont Green FC aims to build a well-run football club that hosts fun and engaging home match events, while developing deep relationships with our supporters and local partners.
Interns play a key role in building and maintaining these community relationships. They will be responsible for planning and executing community activations and supporting the club’s front office across multiple areas, including the community initiatives, sporting department, matchday, and operations. Interns will be expected to lead in the planning and execution of all home matches, including the management of our team of volunteers.
This is a paid internship, and the club is happy to support arrangements for college credit where applicable. Interns should expect to work up to 35 hours per week, which includes office work, community engagement, and participation in 15–25 matchday events.
General Expectations
- Run 15-25 matches (pending playoffs).
- Represent the club at community engagements.
- Support planning and execution of mission-related community activations alongside players (i.e. King Street Center, youth soccer club drop-ins, etc).
- Support merchandise program (i.e. inventory, fulfillment, matchday prep, pop-up retail at local events, etc).
- Support club projects and workstreams across community, sporting, digital, ticketing, merchandise.
- Reasonable accommodations can be made to meet a candidate’s scheduling needs outside of matchdays (attendance at ALL matchdays is required). Please plan on being available from 1pm-5pm from Monday-Friday, in addition to all home matchdays.

- Enjoys meeting people, building relationships, and being a public representative for the club.
- Passion for and/or experience in soccer, community building, social justice, and/or environmental stewardship is a plus!
- Event management experience is a plus.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.

- Required to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift, carry and/or drag up to fifty (50) pounds if necessary.
