An analytically focused practice with deep roots in the expanding issue of sustainability, Cycle designs, plans, manages, and executes projects for clients large, small, and in-between with a calibrated understanding of the competing interests that characterize work in the public arena.
Role Description:
Cycle is seeking temporary hourly support for a canvassing initiative. Canvassers will assist in circulating Resident Impact Study surveys to residents within (4) New York City Housing Authority developments that have recently undergone electrification projects. The surveys are part of a study funded by the National Laboratory of The Rockies (NLR) which aims to understand the impacts of the new electrified heating and cooling systems. The interns selected for this role will aid in door-to-door distribution of surveys and will be expected to be able to give brief explanations of the study to interested residents (with the use of a script and with supervision by Cycle personnel).
This is a short term, hourly role and we anticipate hiring approximately 12 interns to help with the work which we estimate will equate to approximately 200 hours total.
Canvassers should plan to be available for up to 5 full days (likely weekend days).
Canvassers will be expected to arrive on site at a given time and be able to work for 8 hours per day with a lunch break. Lunch will be provided.

Pay: $25/hr

The hiring process for this job is on a strict timeline.

Respondents will be asked to fill out a screening form which will be due no later than Monday February 2nd at 6PM.
Successful candidates will receive an invitation to a zoom-based informational orientation which will take place the week of Feb 2nd.
Candidates will be notified of their selection on February 9th and a full canvassing calendar and a “what to expect” package will be shared at that time.
Door knocking will begin on or about February 21st and must be completed no later than March 7th.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Ability to participate in in-person, door-to-door canvassing at residential buildings
- Comfortable engaging in one-on-one conversations with residents and explaining a study using a prepared script
- Strong verbal communication skills and a respectful, professional demeanor
- Ability to arrive on site at scheduled times and work full 8-hour days with a lunch break
- Availability for up to five full days of work during the project period (likely weekends)
- Ability to be on your feet and walking for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours per day)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions under the supervision of Cycle staff
- No criminal record
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Availability to attend one of two zoom-based informational sessions on Thursday 2/5/26 at 8PM or Friday 2/6/26 at 8AM.
Preferred Qualifications
- Multilingual communication skills, especially Spanish
- Prior experience with canvassing, community outreach, survey administration, or field research
- Experience working with or engaging residents in community-based or residential settings
- Interest in sustainability, energy systems, housing, or public-interest research
- Familiarity with New York City neighborhoods and ability to navigate to assigned locations
