Human Resources Assistant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a temporary Human Resources Assistant to support our Human Resources team on an I-9 audit and compliance project. This full-time role is ideal for someone with 1-2 years of HR experience who is well versed in I-9 form completion, document verification, and compliance standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Audit and correct existing I-9 records to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
- Review employee identification documents to confirm authenticity and appropriateness.
- Maintain accurate, secure, and well-organized I-9 files.
- Track I-9 statuses and corrective actions using Excel.
- Communicate with employees and managers to collect missing or updated documentation.
- Provide general HR administrative support, as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 1-2 years of HR or onboarding experience required.
- Hands-on knowledge of I-9 requirements, document types, and retention rules.
- Ability to identify acceptable identification and spot potentially invalid documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field, preferred; candidates currently pursuing a degree will also be considered.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
