Job Title: Fine Arts Education Teacher (Multiple Disciplines)
Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction (ACAGJ)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Dean of Upper School
Work Hours/Days: School calendar- Monday through Friday, Typical School day, Professional development and work days.
Salary Range: $46,500-60,000 annually, depending on experience and education
Desired Start Date: August 2026, with required attendance at teacher training conference in Hillsdale, MI, in June of 2026

Our co-curricular teachers model good character and provide excellent instruction in their content areas based on classical pedagogy and curriculum. We seek teachers with high standards of excellence, a professional demeanor, warm rapport with students, clear communication with parents, and a can-do attitude to join our team. The ideal Fine Art candidate will be organized, diligent, and devoted to helping all students grow in wisdom and virtue. We seek a teacher who is willing to take on multiple fine art disciplines such as music and theater classes or music and dance classes. Classes may range from Kindergarten through 11th grade depending on discipline.
Essential Functions:
- Cultivating virtue through instruction, mentorship, and programming
- Maintaining professionalism in conduct and communication, striving to exemplify our core virtues
- Prepare unit and lesson plans for all courses in alignment with Hillsdale College's K12 Program Guide for each school year
- Teach and mentor students, utilizing classical pedagogy methods
- Assign, collect, grade, and return graded work in a timely manner
- Continuously monitor student progress and self-evaluate how best to support effective student learning
- Collaborate with Students Services team to meet requirements of special educational plans, such as IEPs, 504s, and others
- Assist in daily operations of the school (e.g., taking attendance, supervising student arrivals, passing periods in hallways, lunchtime and recess supervision) on a shared schedule
- Participate in professional development as offered by ACACS and Hillsdale College's K12 Office
- Deliver engaging and inclusive Fine Arts lessons in multiple disciplines for students in grades K-9, focusing on skill development
- Complete all required training and provide documentation as well as official college transcripts within 90 days of hire date
- Demonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken English to effectively perform their job responsibilities and communicate in the workplace
Required Skills/Abilities
- Bachelor's Degree/passing score on the State Praxis in the subject area
- Strong background in content areas; willingness to receive specific training
- Proficiency in a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their personal best
- Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Conviction in the values of a rigorous liberal arts education

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing to teach
- Must be able to supervise outdoor recess
