Social Media & Community Marketing Intern

Job description

Social Media & Community Marketing

Location: Denver, CO, or Remote

Type: Internship (Path to Full-Time Role in 2026)

Company: Thropic

The Mission (And The Enemy)

Up first - College sports are changing and the ways athletics departments are raising capital for their programs is too. Our goal is to unlock fans and communities to help create excellence on the field through fun challenges.

We are the antidote to the boring fundraiser.

Thropic is a purpose-driven platform that turns fan engagement into a pledge from the fanatics. We partner with universities, athletes, and brands to create skill-based challenges (trivia, predictions) where every play raises money for your teams and meaningful causes. We are democratizing the game, giving the 99% of fans the power to help their team win.

In 2026, we are becoming Social-First. We aren't just posting content; we are telling the raw, funny, and impactful stories of how fans can literally change the trajectory of their teams, people change the path of causes they care about, and competition creates community.

The Role

We are looking for a Social Media & Community Marketing Intern who lives on the internet. You aren’t just looking for "marketing experience"; you want to build a movement. You will help us establish our voice—which is edgy, fast, grounded in data, and unafraid to call out the absurdity of the status quo.

If you know how to navigate a hostile Subreddit, how to drop a meme in a Facebook Group without looking like a bot, and how to turn a complex NIL concept into a 15-second TikTok that goes viral, we want you.

What You’ll Actually Do

Guerrilla Community Marketing: You won't just post to our page; you will go where the fans are. You will identify and authentically engage in niche Facebook Groups, Subreddits (r/CFB, team specific subs), and message boards. You will rally the troops without being "salesy."

Tell the Truth, Funnily: Create content that highlights the current landscape and positions Thropic as the solution. You will use humor, memes, and edge to cut through the noise.

Content Creation: Develop and execute high-volume content strategies for TikTok, Instagram Reels, X (Twitter), and YouTube Shorts. You’ll use tools like CapCut and Canva to move at the speed of the internet.

The "Social First" Pivot: Help transition our brand into a storytelling engine for 2026. You will tell the stories of the athletes and universities we partner with, using data to prove that small donations add up to massive wins.

Trend Building: Monitor trends in sports, gaming, and "brainrot" culture to keep Thropic relevant.

Data-Backed Storytelling: Use industry info and our analytics to show fans exactly how their participation is helping their team win on the field.

Who You Are

A Digital Native: You understand the nuances of Reddit karma, Discord etiquette, and the difference between a Facebook Boomer meme and a Gen Z TikTok.

A Sports Fanatic: You understand the pain of losing to a rival and the euphoria of a big recruit signing. You know how to tap into that emotion.

Thick-Skinned & Witty: The internet can be rough. You can handle trolls with grace (or a witty clapback) and know how to keep the community vibes positive but competitive.

Visual Storyteller: Strong skills in video editing (CapCut/Premiere) and graphic design (Canva/Photoshop). You can make things look good, but you prefer them to be effective.

Detail-Oriented: You can work independently and manage a content calendar without being babysit.

What You’ll Gain

A Career Path: This isn't just a semester gig. For the right person, this is an audition for a full-time role as we scale our Social Team in 2026.

Portfolio Power: You will have tangible proof of how you grew a community, managed a brand voice, and drove real revenue for major universities.

Mentorship: Direct access to startup leaders and exposure to high-level partnerships in sports and gaming.

How to Apply

Don't send us a generic cover letter.

Send your resume.

Send a link to your best social profiles or portfolio.

The Challenge: Send us one meme or short video concept that explains why a college football fan should stop complaining about their team losing and start playing Thropic Games to help them win.
