Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
- Develop plans and instructional materials to provide individualized and small group
instruction and adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
- Maintain lesson plans and schedules as part of curriculum mapping
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, discovery, etc.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional and positive learning atmosphere in the classroom
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare narratives and report cards
- Communicate with parents through conferences, phone calls, and e-mail to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, behavioral, and learning challenges
- Maintain professional competence through professional growth activities, including training drills, and other school procedures
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day, such as recess, lunch, and breaks
- Participate in department, division, and full faculty meetings, and serve on school committees as required
- Attend divisional and school-wide required events (e.g. planning, Open Houses, conferences, etc.)
- Present a positive image of The Lexington School to the outside community, including social networking sites
- Other duties as assigned by the Preschool Division Head or Head of School
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, early childhood education, or other related field required.
- Kindergarten or lower elementary school teaching experience required.
Supervision:
Directly reports to the Preschool Division Head.

This is a full-time position, 10-month teaching position Effective July 1, 2026.
