Underwriter I

A-G Specialty Insurance, LLC designs, markets and underwrites specialty sports, accident, and general liability insurance products. We have been in operation since 1983 and are nationally recognized as a leader in the sports insurance industry.

Job Summary

The Underwriter I assists in writing, managing, and servicing new and renewal business to include all lines of sports, accident, and general liability insurance. This position is also responsible for policy issuance and endorsement processing.

Essential Duties & Functions

  • Underwriting Authority Limit of $100,000
  • Assists in determining the acceptability, conditions and pricing of specific risks and associated coverage, focusing on Participant Accident insurance. 
  • Maintains familiarity with the products, services, priorities and target markets in the K-12 and ICS line of business or insurance segment. 
  • Maintains familiarity with the loss experience and business conditions of key accounts as well as loss trends and any major legal or economic factors affecting the line of business. 
  • Manages the monthly special risk renewals by owning the workflow as well as assigning procedural duties to Associate Underwriters, Underwriting Assistants, and Interns.
  • Communicates effectively with colleagues in underwriting and all support areas in order to meet the insurance needs of customers. 
  • Provide accurate quoting and loss reporting upon request
  • Interacts with sales team, brokers, and carriers with a focus on developing market summaries of premium pricing.
  • May assist senior underwriters or program managers on high priority accounts.
  • Proactively problem solve to balance and manage client/broker expectations with internal service standards
  • Accurately write policies in accordance with contracted carrier policies and state mandated guidelines
  • Work well and continually show respect for colleagues at all levels
  • Manage workflow in order to meet all internal and external underwriting deadlines

Required/Preferred Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Required Experience: 1-3 years’ underwriting experience

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position that may be remote or hybrid. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The schedule for this role can be contingent upon Supervisor and Human Resources approval. Some evening and weekend work may be required. 

Travel

Occasional travel may be expected for this position.
