ABOUT THE Division

General description

Join the Data Analysis and Transparency division as a Local Government Research Intern! Performs entry-level consultative and technical assistance work in areas such as projects related to policy analysis, economic impact analysis, government transparency, economic development, and other areas. Assists division staff with required and ongoing division projects through research, writing, data analysis, data testing, legislative monitoring and other assigned duties. Potential for off-site training and/or other divisional needs. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. The intern may work directly alongside practitioners and stakeholders with the possibility to produce published material or influence policy. Work Hours


7 a.m. to 6 p.m., 40-hours per week, Monday through Friday. May occasionally work evenings, weekends or holidays. Hours may change based on business needs. Teleworking may be considered if certain working conditions are met. Applicant will be required to work in office 3 days/week, days may vary. The applicant may need to report to the office with little notice, as business necessitates. Travel reimbursements are not provided for teleworking.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior at an accredited college or university or a recent graduate within one year, with major coursework in public administration, government, public policy, statistics, economics, social science, finance, business, research methodology or related field.
• Professional or academic experience in research and planning, data analysis and/or policy development relating to general government programs.

 


Preferred Qualifications:

One (1) year of experience in research and planning, data analysis and/or policy development relating to general government programs.

 


In this role you will:

• Assists with research, writing, data entry/analysis, statistical analysis and updating division reports, websites and databases.
• Participates in short-term assignments with other Comptroller divisions such as Communications & Information Services, Revenue Estimating, and Tax Policy.
• Ensures accuracy, consistency and effectiveness by reviewing, editing, and proofing data and various reports and materials for internal and external use.
• Provides assistance and administration of state and local economic development programs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
