Position Title: Lead Teacher – Early Childhood   

Position located near IUI Campus! (position is part of the Community Work-study program at IUI) This position is limited to IUI Student candidates with a Federal Work-Study award. Hourly Wage: $18.00   

Average Hours/Week: Up to 20hrs

Position Duration: Employment is contingent upon the student maintaining eligibility under the Federal Work-Study, University, and CWS requirements, as well as the availability of their work-study award each semester

  

Office Overview:  

Prosperity Enrichment Inc. is a community-based nonprofit organization serving children and families through early learning and enrichment programs. The Early Childhood Program supports children ages 1–5 by providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that promotes social-emotional growth, early literacy, and school readiness. Lead Teachers play a critical role in maintaining classroom structure, supporting child development, and mentoring instructional staff.  

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

50% Lead and supervise daily classroom activities for children ages 1–5, ensuring safety, structure, and age-appropriate learning experiences.  

20% Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons, routines, and enrichment activities aligned with early childhood best practices.  

20% Maintain classroom documentation including attendance, daily reports, incident reports, and child observations; communicate with families as needed.  

10% Other duties as assigned by the supervisor in support of program goals, licensing standards, and organizational mission.  

  

Tools and Equipment Used:  

Computer (basic word processing and documentation)  

Classroom learning materials and early childhood curriculum tools  

Sensory, arts, and play-based materials  

Cleaning and sanitation supplies

Qualifications:  

Interest in early childhood education and child development  

Experience working with children ages 1–5 preferred  

Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills  

Dependable, patient, and adaptable  

CDA or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred  

  

Physical Demands:  

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit on the floor for extended periods  

Ability to lift children and supplies up to 40 lbs  

Active participation in classroom routines and activities
