Finance Intern- Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing
We are seeking a motivated Finance Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This internship offers exposure to real-world financial operations, analysis, and cross-functional projects that support our production, supply chain, and business strategy. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, eager to learn, and interested in how finance drives decision-making within manufacturing.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Assist with monthly financial close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports used by operations and leadership teams.
- Support cost analysis and help track key performance indicators (KPIs) across manufacturing operations.
Cost Accounting & Operations Support
- Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs to support cost accounting efforts.
- Assist in updating standard costs, BOMs, routings, and other manufacturing finance data.
- Help review production variances and investigate root causes with operations partners.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
- Compile financial data from cross-functional partners for forecast updates.
- Assist in modeling scenarios for inventory, throughput, and capacity planning.
Data & Systems Work
- Work with ERP and financial systems to extract, clean, and analyze data.
- Create dashboards and reports using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
- Identify opportunities to streamline reports, automate tasks, or improve data accuracy.
Special Projects
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to financial processes.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis to support strategic decisions in areas such as capital investment, inventory optimization, and pricing.
- Partner with teams in operations, supply chain, engineering, and procurement to better understand cost drivers and business impacts.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Interest in manufacturing, operations, and how financial data supports business decisions.
- Ability to pass a background check and 9-panel drug test
- Due to work on certain U.S. Department of Defense programs, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen
