Greater Philadelphia Health Action, Inc. (GPHA), a non-profit organization that was founded in 1970, is hiring Full-time Safety and Security Officer, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at multiple locations:

 

  • Carl Moore Health Center, 1401 S. 31st St. Phila., PA 19146
  • Chinatown Medical Services, 432 N. 6th St. Phila., PA 19123
  • Frankford Ave Health Center, 4500 - 4510 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19124
  • Hunting Park Health Center, 1999 W. Hunting Park Ave. Phila., PA 19140
  • Southeast Health Center, 800 Washington Ave. Phila., PA 19147
  • Woodland Ave Health Ave, 5000 Woodland Ave. Phila., PA 19143

Candidates must obtain a high school diploma (or GER) and at least one year’s experience as a security officer or certification from a security officer training program. Knowledgeable of Safety and Security requirements and continue learning through it. Must be able to deal with people effectively and professionally. Dealing with disruptive patients or visitors peacefully by applying de-escalation skills. Maintenance and Custodial Services and health center operations. The ability to anticipate a problem/situation and use preventive intervention effectively. CPR certified. 

Specific Responsibilities and duties include patrolling properties and their surroundings for non-compliance activity, suspicious behavior, or unsafe conditions, investigating disturbances and managing aggressive or violent behavior, verbally warning individuals of rule infractions, and physically guiding or escorting aggressive persons to safety and using approved techniques to diffuse or control aggressive behavior when necessary. Safety and Security Officers secure aggressive individuals in a safe position until law enforcement arrives in emergencies and provide safety updates during staff meetings as required.
