Graduate Assistant – Photography & Video Production

 

Department: University Relations

Appointment: Graduate Assistantship

Hours: 20 hours per week

Reports to: Multimedia Producer

 

Position Overview

The Graduate Assistant for Photography & Video Production supports University Relations by assisting with visual content creation across campus. This role provides hands-on experience in photography, video production, and creative operations in higher education. Training will be provided; a strong interest in visual storytelling is essential.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with photography and video shoots across campus (events, athletics, social media/marketing content)
  • Support setup and teardown of cameras, lighting, and audio equipment
  • Capture basic still photography after training; assist as a second shooter when needed
  • Help manage image and video archives, including file organization, captions, and metadata
  • Assist with scheduling, equipment preparation, and shoot logistics
  • Support simple editing tasks, exports, and content delivery as skills develop
  • Assist with special projects, major events, and seasonal campaigns

 

Qualifications

  • Enrolled graduate student in good academic standing
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Dependable, flexible, and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Willingness to learn camera operation and production workflows
  • Ability to lift and carry basic production equipment

 

 

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Interest in photography, video, or creative media
  • Familiarity with DSLR or mirrorless cameras
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications
  • Background in communications, marketing, media, art, or related field

 

This position is for 20 hours/week of work (300 hours for the spring semester), and it provides a tuition waiver for 9 graduate credits plus a stipend of $3,750 per semester.  Please contact Christopher Sponagle for additional information if needed at sponagle@kutztown.edu.
