Structural Designer
Summary
The Structural Designer is responsible for performing standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations. Extracts design/architectural data from various prescribed sources. Processes data following well-defined methods. Performs routine analysis to check applicability, accuracy, and reasonableness of data.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs routine layout and design tasks for routine projects.
- Learns to and assists others in obtaining field measurements.
- Produces sketches and system schematics for routine design tasks.
- Incorporates design concepts into design development and works with project team to produce construction documents.
- Coordinates clearances with other design professionals.
- Selects details which will be used on projects.
- Documents existing conditions and performs some troubleshooting.
- Edits technical specifications sections.
- Reviews drawings and documents to ensure compliance with firm design and production standards.
- Uses computer programs and spreadsheets for engineering presentations.
Specialized Training, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Keeps current on the “state of the art” in their design specialty through a review of periodicals and continuing education.
- Integrity, sense of responsibility, independent judgment.
- Ability to delegate tasks and duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in the PC/windows environment with experience in e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical or Associates Degree in applicable design disciplines from an accredited technical institution or college required.
- T2 : 1+ years of previous design training or experience required
- T3: 3+ years of previous design experience required.
- Valid Drivers’ License required.
- MUST be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Revit.
Working Conditions
This position operates in a professional office environment at REW headquarters in North Olmsted, Ohio.
This is typically a full-time position, which is defined as being scheduled an average of 40 hours per week.
