Overview of the internship site: The Mental Resiliency Training (MRT) program an evidence-based, skills-first program is designed to unify mental, physical, and social health for youth through applied sport psychology, athletic skill development, and nutrition education. The weekly discussion of mental resiliency and activity translate sport experiences into universal life lessons. The curriculum centers on eight core topics: stress, motivation, communication, drive, confidence, perspective, understanding controllables, and sportsmanship which are taught through lessons that include sleep psychology, movement science/physical therapy basics (hydration, neuromuscular pathways), mindfulness/yoga/body awareness, and a values/philosophy module that frames excellence, meaning, and self-transcendence. Together these round out the mental toolbox and reinforce a growth mindset, supporting healthy identity formation well beyond sport.
