Dance Teaching Artist – Medgar Evers (Elementary / Musical Theatre Focus)

This Dance Teaching Artist role supports a musical theatre-centered arts residency at Medgar Evers, culminating in a school-wide performance. Dance instruction will be integrated into a multidisciplinary program that includes movement for storytelling, musicality, ensemble work, and stage presence.
Teaching Artists will collaborate with theatre and music instructors to support choreography and movement aligned with a culturally responsive musical theatre production. Emphasis is placed on expressive movement, performance quality, and applying technique in a theatrical context. The project is for a culturally responsive Annie production.
This role is ideal for artists who:
Have interest or experience in musical theatre, performance dance, or choreography
Enjoy collaborative, ensemble-based instruction
Are excited by performance outcomes and student showcases
Schedule:
3–4 days per week
Morning instructional blocks (approx. 1–3 hours per day depending on role)
12-week residency (March–May)
