Position Summary:
The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial leadership and fiscal stewardship of the school. This role oversees accounting, budgeting, forecasting, tuition and revenue management, financial aid modeling, compliance, and risk management. The Director of Finance partners with school leadership and the Board to ensure financial sustainability, support strategic planning, and guide resource allocation aligned to the school’s mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are not exhaustive but illustrate the general duties required of the position. The Board of Directors reserves the right to and may require the successful candidate to perform other related duties and projects as assigned by the Board of Directors.
- Upholds the mission, vision, and core values of Circle Christian School in day-to-day activities.
- Manages financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow, and treasury functions
- Oversees external audit and provides necessary documentation.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures.
- Advises the Head of School and Board on financial strategy, opportunities, and risk.
- Assists Board in developing and writing policies and ensures adherence to policies.
- Ensures organization’s compliance with IRS nonprofit rules, regulations, and standards.
- Responsible for tax compliance, including Form 990, donor letters, 1099s, sales and use tax, etc.
- Ensures timely and accurate filing of annual reports, registrations, licenses for federal, state, county, city and other regulatory authorities.
- Supervises Human Resources Administrator and Director of Technology and their related functions, including but not limited to payroll and benefits, employment contracts and related annual compliance, and IT systems and related processes.
- Manage banking and vendor relationships.
- Oversee financial systems (e.g., FACTS, QuickBooks, etc.).
- Oversees daily accounting functions, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and cash management.
- Oversees tuition billing, collections, and payment operations.
- Partners with Admissions/Enrollment to project and manage enrollment-related revenue.
- Monitors past-due accounts and implements proactive collection strategies.
Required Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; Masters degree and active Florida CPA license preferred.
- Minimum of five to seven years of experience in financial management, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- A deep commitment to the mission and values of Circle Christian School, agreement with the CCS statement of faith, and a personal faith in Christ.

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
