Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner/ Physicians Assistant

Department: Hospital Medicine
Schedule: Full-Time (7 On / 7 Off)
Reports To: Chief Hospitalist / Medical Director

Position Summary:
The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant provides high-quality inpatient care to adult patients within our hospital setting. This provider plays a key role in assessing, diagnosing, and managing acute and chronic medical conditions, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

This full-time position follows a 7 on / 7 off schedule, offering an excellent work–life balance in a supportive, team-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform inpatient evaluations, daily rounding, and management of hospitalized patients
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests; develop and implement treatment plans
  • Collaborate with attending physicians and the care team to ensure coordinated patient care
  • Document all patient encounters according to hospital and regulatory standards
  • Communicate with patients and families regarding diagnoses, plans of care, and discharge instructions
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to established protocols

Qualifications:

  • Current Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in the state of Mississippi (or eligibility to obtain one)
  • Minimum one year of experience in a comparable inpatient or hospitalist environment required
  • Current BLS/ACLS certifications (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage complex patients in a fast-paced hospital setting
