Environmental Technician

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking an Environmental Technician in Wall, NJ.

Responsibilities

• Perform environmental fieldwork including soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air sampling
• Assist with environmental site assessments, monitoring programs, and remediation projects
• Accurately document field activities, observations, and sample logs
• Prepare and maintain field notes, photographs, and chain-of-custody forms
• Transport samples to certified laboratories in accordance with protocols
• Assist with basic data entry, organization, and review
• Support preparation of technical reports by compiling figures, tables, and appendices
• Maintain and calibrate field equipment
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company procedures
• Coordinate with team members across environmental, engineering, and planning disciplines
• Travel to project sites, which may include early mornings, overtime, or occasional overnight travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geology or a related field
• Strong interest in environmental consulting and field-based work
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship or coursework involving environmental fieldwork or sampling
• Familiarity with environmental regulations (EPA, NJDEP, state agencies, etc.)
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience working in a consulting or professional services environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in field conditions for extended periods
