Bridge Staff Engineer

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Staff Engineer in our Bridge department in Wall, NJ.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and analysis of bridge structures, including steel, concrete, and composite bridges.
• Prepare design drawings, specifications, calculations, and construction documents under supervision.
• Conduct basic structural calculations and assist with modeling using structural analysis software.
• Support field inspections and site visits to assess bridge conditions and construction progress.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, and transportation teams to ensure coordinated design solutions.
• Research applicable codes, standards, and materials for bridge design and construction.
• Participate in project meetings and provide technical support throughout project phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program (Master’s degree preferred).
• 0–2 years of relevant experience (internship or co-op experience preferred).
• Fundamental understanding of structural and bridge engineering principles.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD, SAP2000, RISA) is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• EIT certification or intent to obtain is preferred.
