Reports To: Head of School
Background: Trinity Christian School is a classical Christian school pursuing excellence to the glory of God. TCS is located in suburban Montville, New Jersey, approximately 30 miles from NYC. The school is biblically conservative and reformed, and entering its 40th year with a strong academic heritage.

Purpose: To honor God by instructing students to know Christ, and to live purposefully and intelligently in the service of God and man.
Grades: For the 2026-2027 school year, we are looking for a teacher to teach English 7, English 8 and English 9 (American Literature). This position may include additional classes in the Humanities (to be defined). This is a full-time position.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
1. Spiritual Leadership:
- A demonstrated acceptance without reservation of the Christian school’s statement of faith.
- Clearly verbalize God’s gift of salvation, and be a Christian witness and role model to students.
- Ensure that the classroom work environment is Biblically-based, nurturing, wholesome, and loving.
- Work with the administration and staff to address the spiritual formation needs of the students.
- Carry out Christ-centered counseling with students and staff when appropriate.
2. Academic Leadership: Effectively instructs students in a manner consistent with a classical Christian school by:
- having a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Classical Christian philosophy of education that will help in providing leadership and guidance in the school’s development of and commitment to a Christian worldview.
- knowing with mastery the material being taught
- providing enthusiastic and age-level instruction
- exhibiting a warm and nurturing attitude that engages students joyfully in the learning process
- establishing and maintaining appropriate relationships with students, parents, and coworkers by communicating in a tactful and courteous manner while maintaining confidentiality
- striving to meet students’ individual academic needs and challenging students in an encouraging manner
- developing, creating and modifying materials/ lessons that inspire and encourage students to participate
- submitting lesson plans punctually
- following established curriculum and meeting established curricular objectives
- creatively exploring content through relevant activities and projects
- being ready and willing to carry out and conduct other relevant assignments and responsibilities as designated by the Head of School
2. Maintains classroom culture and discipline that reflects Jesus Christ through a nurturing, environment by:
- following established discipline policies
- maintaining a studious classroom environment
- providing understandable standards for expected behavior
- fostering an atmosphere full of joyful learning rather than stiffness or boredom
- developing and enforcing classroom rules to teach students God-honoring behavior
- designing and maintaining the classroom so that it is aesthetically pleasing and has a logical organization of materials/resources/activities
3. Demonstrates the ability to be a good example of Christ-like behavior and professional conduct by:
- being punctual, compliant and responsible
- being a good example for students
- following staff dress and conduct code and willingly executing all standards and directives from supervisors
- turning in lesson plans and returning assignments to students in a timely manner
- communicating with students, school administration, parents, and other interested parties effectively and punctually
- creating and maintaining a neat classroom environment and workspace that inspires learning
- constantly expanding his/her abilities by gaining further training and professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. This position normally requires a bachelor’s degree
2. Previous teaching experience and knowledge of classical methodology are preferred.
3. Personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ and membership in a local Bible-believing evangelical church
4. Successfully completing and meeting all mandated state clearances and trainings
5. Proficient in Google Office Suite and typing
6. Strong desire to advance personal knowledge and skills through professional development
7. Should be able to lift comfortably at least 25 lbs
