Nord Family Network Director’s Fellowship in Digital Media Archiving

The Docent Programs Department in the Division of Public and Academic Engagement at the Cleveland Museum of Art is seeking a detail-oriented intern to lead the migration and organization of its extensive video library. The chosen candidate will be responsible for streamlining the department’s digital presence by transitioning content from internal storage to its docent YouTube channel. Key responsibilities for this internship include:

  • Cloud Migration: Systematically download recorded sessions from Zoom and Microsoft SharePoint.

  • Content Curation: Organize videos into logical playlists to improve viewer navigation and accessibility.
  • Legacy Digitization: Convert physical DVD archives into high-quality MP4 formats and integrate them into our digital library.

At the conclusion of this internship, the selected candidate will have executed a full-scale media migration project, successfully transitioning disparate training assets from Zoom, SharePoint, and physical DVD formats into a curated YouTube library featuring standardized tagging and playlist categorizations. In the course of completing this internship, the selected candidate will develop various essential skills including:

  • Platform Management: Proficiency in YouTube Studio, including advanced settings, playlist architecture, and audience retention tools.
  • Data Migration & Cloud Storage: Navigating Microsoft SharePoint and Zoom Cloud environments for large-scale file transfers.
  • Video Transcoding: Mastery of conversion software to transform physical media into H.264/MP4 digital assets while maintaining quality.
  • Digital Asset Management (DAM): Learning how to create standardized naming conventions and metadata schemas.
  • Project Management: Learning to track progress across a high volume of assets and meet a final delivery deadline.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring that every video is titled correctly and that no data is lost or corrupted during the migration process.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshooting technical issues such as corrupted DVD sectors, slow upload speeds, or incompatible file formats.
  • Time Management: Prioritizing the "batch processing" of uploads to maximize efficiency while multitasking other project phases.
