Resident Camp Overnight Camp Counselors & Unit Leaders

Are you interested in working with youth, working outdoors, and building relationships that will last a lifetime? 

YMCA Camp MacLean can offer all of those experiences during the summer of 2025. YMCA Camp MacLean, located in Burlington, Wisconsin, is currently hiring summer resident camp counselors and unit directors. While we primarily serve children from the Chicago-land area as well as South eastern Wisconsin, we do have campers that join us from all over the world. Camp MacLean is currently hiring:

-General counselors - works with primarily 7-12 year old campers

-Teen unit counselors- work with teens 13-16 year old campers

-High Adventure Camp and high ropes counselors and specialists

-Assistant Healthcare (perfect for nursing or pre-med students)

-A variety of other support and leadership positions

Requirements

-At least 19 years old and completed at least one year in college or

-Dedicated to the philosophy and the mission of YMCA Camp MacLean.

-Communication skills to work with campers and co-workers.

-Complete Staff interview/screening process 

General Function

-Provides leadership and guidance to a cabin group

-Work at accomplishing the camp goals for each camper in the cabin group

-Ensure safety of each camper

-Assigned to teach skill class based on interest and experience

-Actively participates in camp program

Responsibilities

1. Follow camp personnel policies 

2. Work as assigned 

3. Set the example for campers- be a positive role model

4. Get to know each camper individually

5. Be aware of health and welfare of each child

6. Communicate properly with other staff and supervisors as needed

7. Provide for every camper the opportunity to feel good about themselves each day

8. Supervise and assist group in housekeeping duties

9. Attend all staff training dates

10. Accept additional duties as requested
