Job Description
Raw Talent Performing Arts (RTPA) is seeking a Program Lead / Lead Teaching Artist – Dance to lead in-school dance residencies for Chicago Public Schools and partner sites.
This role serves as the instructional and cultural anchor for the program, leading high-quality dance instruction while supporting student growth in technique, performance readiness, and social-emotional learning. The Program Lead also supports curriculum pacing, rehearsal planning, and collaboration with school staff and RTPA leadership.
Responsibilities include:
Lead daily dance instruction and rehearsal blocks across a 12-week residency
Teach technique and choreography in styles such as Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern, Ballet, and Musical Theatre Dance
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to Illinois Arts Standards and SEL outcomes
Create a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment
Prepare students for culminating performances or showcases
Support and coach Teaching Artists and Interns as needed
Communicate regularly with RTPA leadership and school partners
Qualifications:
Professional experience as a dance educator and/or performer
Experience working with youth in school or community settings
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Commitment to culturally responsive and student-centered teaching
Compensation & Schedule:
Independent Contractor (1099)
$45–$55 per hour, depending on site and scope
School-day hours; schedule varies by site
Background check and RTPA onboarding required.
