Video for Social Media Internship - Ukraine nonprofit (Remote)

Role Description

This is a remote volunteer role for a Video Editor Intern. The Intern will be responsible for turning content into videos for social media posts. You'll also play a vital role in explaining to us how to optimize our content for video platforms. We prefer the editing work to be done in Canva (access to our Canva Pro team will be provided), but we can be flexible depending on your preferences.

Opportunities are available (optional) to take on project leadership roles.

 

About Ukraine Defense Support (UDS)

UDS is a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit helping the people of Ukraine defend their country from the Russian invasion. We provide aid, equipment, and technical support to Ukrainian military units. Our work is powered by a global network of volunteers and partner organizations. All UDS staff are unpaid volunteers.
 

Time commitment:

  • Hours: 4+ hours/week (more would be great, if you are available)
  • Duration: Minimum 3 months, with opportunity to extend
  • Flexibility: We can accommodate exams, vacations, and other needs

 

Program requirements and supervision

You will meet regularly with supervisors to discuss your tasks. We'll tailor your projects as much as possible to your preferences and career goals. Requirements:

  • Complete our structured onboarding checklist.
  • Attend at least one weekly check-in call with our team. Flexible scheduling available.
  • Log your volunteer hours.


Qualifications

  • Passion for helping Ukraine and making a positive impact
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • The knowledge to explain to us: what DO people even watch on TikTok? We need your insight!
  • Proficiency with basic video editing. We'd like to use Canva for this if possible, but we can be flexible
  • Basic familiarity with Google Suite, and/or Microsoft Office
  • Ability to interpret and implement organizational design guidelines
  • Advantage - Previous knowledge of Ukrainian culture, history, etc.

What you'll be doing

  • Create short clips from content we will provide, using our branding and style guidelines
  • Advise us on how to optimize our videos for cross-posting to all the big platforms
  • Help us develop a brand kit of basic video assets: eg, end credit slide, title templates
  • Optional - You'll be welcome to plan future video campaigns, if you're interested! We have a lot of content that you can draw from directly.
