The Front Desk Shift Lead position provides the first point of customer contact in person and on the phone with a focus on creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all patrons, staff, and volunteers.

Pay Rate Range: $19.31 - $21.75 Hourly

Pay rate range includes a 5% bilingual pay incentive available for staff who regularly use their bilingual or multilingual skills starting Feb 15.

Responsibilities:
This position plays a key role in providing high-quality customer service while supporting daily operations at the Nature Center. Responsibilities include warmly greeting the public, registering patrons for classes, answering district-wide and center-specific questions about programs and activities, engaging visitors with natural resource questions, and completing assigned clerical duties.

Successful candidates will bring knowledge and experience in office management principles and apply these skills to day-to-day tasks while consistently creating a welcoming, inclusive, and customer-focused environment. Candidates should have at least one year of general clerical experience, including regular public contact and customer service experience, as well as some exposure to recreational programming. Bilingual Spanish language skills and an interest in nature, plants, and animals are preferred.

Schedule:

We are looking to hire a part-time Shift Lead to support our front desk team. This position is regularly scheduled on Wednesdays from 10 am–3 pm, with additional hours available during the summer, and offers opportunities to pick up extra shifts supporting evening and weekend rentals and programs.

 

Key components of the job include (but are not limited to):

  • Independently open, close, and staff the front desk at the facility assigned. 
  • Greet the public, create a positive experience for customers through professional and courteous behavior, and provide information and assistance regarding schedules, program descriptions, and other general district information over the phone and in person.
  • Answer telephone and direct calls to appropriate personnel, as well as take accurate messages.
  • Perform general clerical support, such as generating prescribed reports, assisting the public with program enrollment by signing participants up for programs, receipting money, and performing related registration procedures.
