Adjunct Faculty Medical Assisting Instructor
Whatcom Community College welcomes applications for part-time, Adjunct Faculty, Medical Assisting Instructor to teach a clinical lab spring quarter 2026.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in medical assisting or a closely related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Current certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Registered Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Minimum of three years' recent clinical work experience as a Medical Assistant.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Teaching experience in a post-secondary institution.
- Experience in a community or technical college.
- Experience with and understanding of educational theory and techniques.
- Experience in curriculum design and innovation, including the development of teaching materials for an online/hybrid format.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication abilities with students, colleagues, and community professionals.
- Develops innovative ideas that provide solutions to all types of workplace challenges and brings ideas to supervisor.
- Earns the trust, respect, and confidence of coworkers and public through consistent honesty, forthrightness and professionalism in all interactions.
- Creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Actively contributes to a work environment that embraces diversity and uses diverse perspectives to enhance the attainment of organizational goals. Treats everyone with respect and dignity and appreciates the differences in people.
- Evidence of competence using instructional technology including Canvas.
- Evidence of proficiency in using multiple instructional strategies such as flipped classrooms, simulations, case studies.

Salary:
- $2,471.00 to teach Medical Assisting 151, clinical lab only, spring quarter 2026.
Benefit Package:
- Accrues a percentage of 7 hours (equal to the percentage of workload) per month of sick leave (ex. 50% quarterly employment contract x 7 hrs for full-time = 3.5 hrs per month for that quarter).
Start Date:
- Spring quarter 2026. Quarter begins on Tuesday April 7th, 2026.
