Digital Archives Intern - The Brooklyn Museum

Position Overview: 

The Brooklyn Museum’s Archive documents the various departments and activities of the Museum from 1823 through the present day. Digital Collections produces and archives digital assets related to the museum’s collections, exhibitions, programs, and events. Working with the Digital Asset Manager and the Archivist and Records Manager, the intern will be creating metadata in the Museum's digital asset management system (DAM), NetX, to accurately and thoroughly describe the digitized Archives assets. The intern will collaborate with both departments to generate descriptive, technical, and rights metadata to increase the search and findability of these assets within the DAM. These materials include photography, documents, and other ephemera from the Brooklyn Museum Art School, Community Gallery records, Lantern slides, and more.   

Key Responsibilities: 

- Create/update digital objects in ArchivesSpace.    

- Create a crosswalk between ArchivesSpace and NetX.   

- Apply metadata to digitized archives assets in NetX.  

- Attend networking events and workshops as scheduled. 

 

Qualifications

- Interest in Archives and an interest in Digital Asset Management.  

- Art history, Museum studies, history, photography, or other relevant majors are welcome to apply.   

- Attention to detail.   

- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Google Drive, Adobe Creative Suite.
