Social Security Disability Paralegal
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Social Security Disability Paralegal to support attorneys in all phases of Social Security Disability (SSD) and Social Security Income (SSI) claims. This role involves managing case files, preparing legal documents, communicating with clients and government agencies, and ensuring compliance with Social Security Administration (SSA) regulations and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with Social Security Disability and Social Security Income claims from initial application though hearings and appeals
- Gather, organize and review medical records, wage records, and other supporting documents
- Prepare and file applications, disability reports, appeals, briefs, and other documents with the Social Security Administration, or Office of Hearing Operations
- Track and manage case deadlines, hearing dates, and appeal timelines
- Communicate with clients to obtain information, provide case updates, and explain procedures
- Coordinate with SSA field representatives
- Prepare clients for hearings, including organizing exhibits, work background, and list of medications forms
- Maintain accurate and confidential case files
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Paralegal certificate or degree from an ABA approved paralegal program preferred, but not required.
- SSD/SSI paralegal experience preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software (e.g., ATO, Litify) preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Familiarity with SSD and SSI claims
- Familiarity with Social Security Administration E-Filing Systems
- Compassion for disabled individuals
Working Conditions
- Full-time
- Office environment, with flexibility for occasional remote work based on business needs.
