- Excels at helping students develop strong reading comprehension, writing proficiency, critical thinking, and effective communication skills while connecting literary concepts, themes, and texts to a Christian worldview (e.g., truth, redemption, virtue, stewardship of words, and the power of story to point to God’s grand narrative).
- Enjoys fostering a classroom culture where students grow not only in literary and linguistic proficiency but also in character, empathy, discernment, and wonder at God’s design for language and creativity.
- Believes English studies equip students to glorify God through wise use of words, thoughtful engagement with ideas, and clear articulation of truth.
- Models humility, teaching literature and language arts in faithful alignment with biblical truth, while equipping students to engage thoughtfully with diverse texts, worldviews, and contemporary ideas from a firm foundation in Scripture.
