Job Description
The Industrial Engineering Internship in the warehouse environment provides hands-on experience in process improvement, operational efficiency, and data analysis. The intern will work closely with the operations and Continuous Improvement teams to optimize warehouse processes, identify bottlenecks, and enhance overall productivity. This role will offer valuable exposure to industrial engineering principles within a warehouse setting, while contributing to process design and improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in analyzing warehouse operations and workflows to identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.
- Collect and analyze data related to warehouse productivity, inventory management, and space utilization.
- Collaborate with CI engineers and warehouse staff to design, test, and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Assist in time studies and motion analysis to optimize task performance and reduce waste in operations.
- Support the development and implementation of Lean Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes and improve overall warehouse efficiency.
- Evaluate equipment and material handling systems for optimization, recommending changes to enhance performance and reduce operational costs.
- Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving sessions to address operational challenges.
- Present findings and recommendations to warehouse leadership and CI teams.
- Review and update Value Stream Maps
Qualifications
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and propose process improvements based on quantitative analysis.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify inefficiencies and develop actionable solutions to improve warehouse processes.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g., Excel, AutoCAD, etc.), with the ability to create reports and visualizations.
- Lean Manufacturing: Interest or experience in Lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision when conducting time studies, motion analysis, and data collection.
- Value Stream Mapping: Experience in or exposure to Value Stream Mapping and identifying bottlenecks in system processes.

Education & Qualifications
- Earning bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or related field
Working Conditions
- Warehouse-based position.
- Hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday onsite.
