The Opportunity

This role is intentionally designed as a career development pathway, not a static position. You will start with comprehensive training and mentorship while learning the fundamentals of financial services. As you obtain the appropriate state and FINRA licenses, your responsibilities, income potential, and scope of services expand—ultimately leading to a full-suite Financial Advisor role.

You’ll have the opportunity to build your own insurance and financial services practice, backed by New York Life’s brand, training, and long-standing commitment to professional growth.

Structured Career Progression & Licensing Path

Step 1: Licensed Agent

(State Life & Health License)

Foundational training in financial services and client engagement

Conduct needs-based conversations with individuals and families

Provide insurance and protection-focused solutions

Begin building long-term client relationships

No prior licenses required. New York Life provides licensing support, training, and financial assistance to help you get started.

 

Step 2: Registered Representative

(SIE, Series 6 or 7, and Series 63)

Expanded ability to offer registered financial products

Support clients with accumulation and retirement strategies

Continue practice development with structured mentorship

Grow your advisory skillset and market knowledge

 

Step 3: Financial Advisor

(Series 63 + Series 65 or Series 66)

Deliver holistic financial guidance and planning

Offer investment, retirement, and wealth-building strategies

Conduct comprehensive financial reviews and ongoing advisory services

Serve as a trusted advisor through all stages of clients’ lives

 

Step 4: Practice Model Specialization

Design a practice aligned with your interests and strengths, including:

Financial Guidance & Planning

Business Solutions

Retirement Planning

Estate & Legacy Planning

Wealth Management & Investments

You will also have the opportunity to pursue professional designations through The American College, enhancing your credibility, expertise, and long-term career value.

 

Compensation & Income Potential

Commission-Based Compensation

Non-Commission Training Allowance: up to $62,000

Incentives & Bonus Opportunities

Annual Income Potential: $103,150 – $115,323+
