POSITION TITLE: Development and Volunteer Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director of Development
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Development and Volunteer Coordinator will support efforts of coordination, promotion and implementation of activities that will lead to the acquisition of financial and other resources to support the ongoing operation and growth of Sunrise and its programs. Responsible for the management and coordination of volunteers and interns. This is a full time position.
RELATIONSHIPS: Work with staff, interns, volunteers, and community partners. Interrelates with the Board of Directors and members of the Fund Development/Finance Committees upon the request of the CEO. Interacts with members of the community, businesses, foundations or individuals who are assisting in the fund development process and agency awareness.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with the development, coordination, promotion, and implementation of activities that will lead to the acquisition of financial and other resource development to support the ongoing operation and growth of Sunrise and its programs. 10% other
- Complete management of Volunteer and Intern Program including: volunteer recruitment (media, public speaking, posters), screens (application, background checks, etc.) schedules outside training courses, trains volunteers and interns on policies and procedures of Sunrise, maintains volunteer/intern files (applications, evaluations, hours worked, awards, training certifications), works with each volunteer/intern on appropriate placement and supervision, oversees the production of volunteer appreciation events 50%VOCA
- Ensure timely and appropriate donor recognition. 5% other
- Assist with the planning of special events and fundraisers. 5% other
· Create promotional or marketing materials for special events, appreciation events, fundraisers, and other awareness events as needed 15% other
· Create content and social media material for all online platforms including website, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and others as developed. 10% other
- Create and publish monthly electronic newsletter to the community list-serve.
- Maintain statistics, document all work, and prepare required funding reports. 5% other
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain public relations contacts and cultivate PR relationships.
- Actively participate in community networking with civic organizations and identified groups.
- Assist with grant writing as requested.
· May take crisis calls on an as needed basis.
· Provide referrals for identified victims.
- Answer phones and greet guests who arrive at Administration office.
PROHIBITED FUNCTIONS:
· Does not respond to media requests without the input and guidance from the CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
· Bachelor degree in related field preferred.
· Understand the dynamics of domestic & sexual violence.
· Some experience in sales, marketing or nonprofit fundraising preferred.
· Demonstrate excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
· Computer literate, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, and Internet research.
· Strong presentation skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
· Ability to display sensitivity and respond appropriately to cultural differences in the service population and coworkers.
· Willing to use own vehicle for travel.
· Must pass screening by FDLE and Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
