Gallery Intern - A.I.R. Gallery

Position Overview 

We are seeking motivated college interns to join the team at A.I.R. Gallery, the longest-running alternative space for women artists, this summer. Interning at A.I.R. provides an opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of managing an arts organization and gallery space. Through working with the staff and the artists at the gallery, interns will become familiar with the unique nature of A.I.R. and become a part of its rich fifty three year long history. 

The work includes direct interaction with the public, assisting with mailings and gallery publicity, exhibition research, cataloging incoming information and facilitating communication between the staff, the artists, and the public. Collaborating with the small team at A.I.R., interns take the lead on specific projects and take on a multitude of responsibilities. These projects will provide interns with experience to help them determine which aspects of arts administration excite them and what future opportunities they would like to pursue. 

Interns will work together to develop a final project that makes A.I.R.’s archives more accessible to the public in the form of a small printable sourcebook.   

Key Responsibilities: 

Helping with administrative tasks such as responding to inquiries and answering phone calls 

Formatting printed matter for exhibitions and programs 

Interacting with the public and presenting A.I.R.’s mission in a positive and engaging light 

Processing archival materials from the organization’s 50+ year history 

Developing content for social media promoting upcoming exhibitions and events 

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in Art History, Museum Studies or Studio Art 

Strong interest in feminist art, art history, and arts non profits.  

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Proficient with Google Drive (Sheets, Docs, Slides etc). 

Ability to work independently and as part of a small close-knit team 

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 

Familiarity with Adobe recommended 

Duration:  

10 week Summer Internship: June 8 – August 14, 2026  

Intern will work 7 hours a day from 11-6PM Wednesday-Sunday  

Please note that due to shorter working days this position will run for one additional week.
