Duration: Camp: June 8 - July 2, 2026 (4 days per week, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm); Training: June 1-June 5, 2026, 9:00 am-3:00 pm
Stipend: $2,000
Overview:
The Queen Academy REGAL Summer Camp is a four-week program exclusively for middle and high school girls, with priority camp acceptance given to current Queen Academy mentees, and girls in foster care placement with the Georgia Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS). Our camp provides a safe, nurturing environment for young women, ages 11-17, to explore academic, social, and emotional growth through STEAM activities, life skills workshops, financial literacy, and project-based learning. Interns will work directly with a group of 20-25 girls, facilitating sessions, supporting project development, and contributing to a meaningful summer experience for these participants.
Position Summary:
The Education and Social Work Interns will assist camp staff in planning, facilitating, and evaluating camp activities and projects that focus on STEAM education, life skills, financial literacy, and enrichment. Interns will work closely with camp participants, providing mentorship, guidance, and encouragement to help them complete projects and develop skills for personal and academic success. Interns will also support students as they work on project-based learning activities aimed at entrepreneurship and developing their own business concept. At the end of the camp, interns will assist participants as they present their projects to local stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:

Facilitation of Sessions:
- Lead and co-facilitate workshops and sessions on STEAM topics, life skills, financial literacy, and enrichment activities.
- Help develop interactive and hands-on activities to engage participants in meaningful learning experiences.

Mentorship and Support:
- Build supportive relationships with camp participants, offering mentorship, encouragement, and guidance.
- Assist with project-based learning, guiding students as they research and develop business ideas for their entrepreneurship projects.
- Encourage participants to develop self-confidence, resilience, and leadership skills.

Project Assistance:
- Assist students in project planning, development, and completion, supporting them as they present their work to stakeholders.
- Help students brainstorm, conduct research, and manage time and resources for their projects.

Collaboration with Camp Staff:
- Work closely with camp staff to coordinate schedules, activities, and program logistics.
- Participate in staff meetings to discuss daily progress, address challenges, and celebrate successes.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Document students’ progress, collect feedback, and contribute to evaluation efforts to help measure the camp’s impact.
- Support post-camp follow-up and reporting efforts to capture successful outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Education Major Intern: Pursuing a degree in Education, ideally with an interest in STEAM, child development, or secondary education.
- Social Work Major Intern: Pursuing a degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field, with a focus on youth services, trauma-informed care, or community development.
- Previous experience working with youth in educational or camp settings is preferred.
- Ability to engage, motivate, and empathize with young people, especially those in vulnerable situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
- Comfortable working in a faith-based setting with elements of spiritual development.
