Latham Centers, a leader in supporting children with complex special needs, including Prader-Willi syndrome, is seeking compassionate and dedicated Children’s Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). This role empowers students with disabilities by teaching life skills, fostering community engagement, and providing essential care and support.

Location: Brewster, MA 02631
Compensation: $20.00–$21.50 per hour (based on experience)

Schedule: Full-Time or Part Time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance, support, and encouragement to one or two students in the residence.
  • Plan and implement engaging daily activities on and off campus to foster learning, social skills, and personal growth.
  • Assist students with daily responsibilities and help build essential life skills.
  • Implement behavior and support plans tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Participate in writing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) and track student progress.
  • Provide therapeutic crisis intervention and informal counseling, maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and contribute to a collaborative workplace.
  • Attend mandatory trainings, maintain certifications, and pursue career growth opportunities within Latham Centers.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to learn and commitment to helping children with disabilities
  • Ability to safely handle children in crisis with compassion
  • Preferred: One year of experience in a related field
  • Ability to intervene in extreme behavior situations to ensure safety
