Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

These positions are represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and are subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

HOURS OF WORK: Monday & Tuesday 9am-6pm; Wednesday & Thursday 11am-8pm; Friday 9am-6pm
LOCATION(S): 3600 Denali St. Anchorage, AK 99503

Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties

 

 

Provide reference and reader's advisory services in person, over the phone, and electronically to youth, parents, teachers, and caregivers. Instruct the public on resources including databases, Internet, the library catalog, and print resources. Plan and implement programs for the public under the supervision of a librarian. Assist in collection maintenance duties. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external patrons. Establish and maintain effective relations with co-workers, the public, and vendors. Other duties as assigned. 
 

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

 

 

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and four (4) years of library clerical and/or technical experience.
 

OR

Associate’s degree in Library Science or a related discipline and two (2) years of library clerical and/or technical experience.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or a related discipline and library experience.
