Campus Visit Assistant Job description - Summer 2026 and/or Fall 2026

Duties:

  • General office duties such as answering phones, coordinating visitor appointment requests, corresponding with on and off campus entities, creating visit itineraries, and responding to email. (This is approximately 3/4 of the job.)
  • Interact with NMU faculty, staff, prospective students and their parents.
  • Provide campus tours in any kind of weather (this is approximately 1/4 of the job).
  • Be a positive representative of NMU for campus visits and other recruitment events.
  • Be able to work some weekends (approximately 4 per semester).

Qualifications:

  • Willing to work in a very busy and sometimes stressful office.
  • Possess a positive attitude about NMU and have a desire to share that feeling with prospective students and parents.
  • Be a team-player and and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Have a strong work ethic and willing to step in and help wherever needed.
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of populations in both a professional and friendly manner.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of large groups of people.
  • Be an active member of the NMU community.

Requirements:

  • If you are hired you must be willing to return to NMU in the summer for at least 2 weeks of training.
  • Must be an undergraduate student.
  • Be free of any conduct issues through the Dean of Students Office.
  • Must be in good academic standing at NMU
  • Willing to work 8 or more hours a week (preferred).
