Production Director

We are looking for a Production Director who is not only comfortable running production, but who can write, document, and maintain clear processes that create consistency and scalability.

Role Overview

The Production Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all production activities while creating and maintaining written processes that drive repeatable results. This role requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to translate how work is done on the floor into clear, usable documentation. You will play a key role in turning tribal knowledge into written SOPs and ensuring those processes are followed, measured, and improved.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

• Plan and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules 
• Ensure production targets are met while maintaining quality and safety standards
• Monitor workflow, capacity, and resource utilization to eliminate bottlenecks
• Track and report production data, metrics, and performance trends

Process Writing & Documentation (Critical)

• Write, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all production processes
• Translate hands-on production workflows into clear, step-by-step written processes
• Ensure processes are detailed, accurate, and easy for operators to follow
• Maintain version control and updates to production documentation
• Train teams on documented processes and verify adherence

Process Improvement & Systems

• Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and inefficiencies in current processes
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives based on data and root-cause analysis
• Partner with engineering, quality, and maintenance to refine and standardize workflows

Team Leadership

• Lead production staff with clear expectations, structure, and accountability
• Maintain a calm, organized, and disciplined production environment
• Address performance and compliance issues directly and professionally

Quality & Safety

• Uphold quality control and safety standards through documented procedures
• Investigate defects, delays, or incidents and implement corrective actions

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or production management
• Proven experience writing SOPs, work instructions, or process documentation
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production reporting
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies
• Long-term growth in a scaling manufacturing environment
