The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Transit and Ridesharing, is hiring one (1) Transit & Ridesharing Seasonal Worker with assignment in Newington, CT.
THE ROLE
The Seasonal Worker will have the opportunity to gain experience of projects and activities for bus transportation involving operations, equipment, construction, maintenance, engineering, capital projects, and finance and administration.
The Transit & Ridesharing Seasonal Worker will gain valuable real-life work experience, development and advancement of skill sets, exposure to career possibilities within public transportation, and mentorship as each Seasonal Worker will be paired with a mentor who will include them in current projects, meetings, and day-to-day work life.
The Office of Transit and Ridesharing directly operates a statewide multimodal transit network, including 8 divisions of the CTtransit state-owned bus system and CTfastrak–an ITDP Silver Standard BRT system. In addition, the Office of Transit and Ridesharing manages contracts for service provision with large transit service providers and with several Connecticut Transit Districts. In total, providing over 42 million passenger trips per year.
The Fleet & Customer Amenities unit is responsible for managing the State’s medium to heavy-duty transit fleets, as well as administering the Bus Stop Enhancement Program, managing Park & Ride lots, and coordinating the transition from diesel buses to battery electric buses (BEB). This position will directly support the BEB Project Lead and assist in tasks such as planning BEB deployment, managing BEB telematics and charge management systems, analyzing telematics data and reporting results. The position may also have the opportunity to assist in the other programs within the Fleet & Customer Amenities Unit.
