Behavior Support At-Risk Classroom Teacher

POSITION: Behavior Support At-Risk Classroom Teacher

LOCATION: Crawford AuSable School District, Grayling Elementary School

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, School Year 
                                       
DESCRIPTION: CASD is launching a specialized classroom designed to support students who benefit from targeted instruction in behavior and social-emotional skills. We are seeking a motivated and student-centered teacher to lead this program and support students using evidence-based practices, proactive strategies, and collaborative problem-solving. This classroom is designed as an intervention model to support students' learning the skills to be successful in the general education classroom.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct instruction in behavior, self-regulation, and social-emotional skills
  • Implement strong, consistent classroom management systems aligned with trauma-informed and restorative practices
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate data on student behavior, progress, and interventions
  • Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers to align academic and behavioral supports
  • Communicate effectively with families to share student progress, discuss strategies, and build positive partnerships
  • Develop and maintain organized systems for documentation, scheduling, and ongoing intervention planning
  • Participate in team meetings, IEP team meetings if applicable, and multi-disciplinary problem-solving (as part of the MTSS model)

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • Experience teaching or supporting students with behavioral challenges and/or social-emotional needs
  • Demonstrated expertise in classroom management and behavior intervention strategies
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to partner with families, colleagues, and outside providers
  • Skilled in data collection, progress monitoring, and decision-making based on student outcomes
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and documentation systems efficiently

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with PBIS, MTSS, restorative practices, trauma-informed approaches, and/or SEL curriculum
  • Experience working within a collaborative team environment

SALARY: According to the terms of the Master Agreement.
