Camp Lindenmere is looking for a Outdoor Adventure / Ropes Instructor for the summer. All training and certifications will be provided.
Located in Pennsylvania’s beautiful Pocono Mountains, Camp Lindenmere is a private, coed sleep-away camp established in 1935. Our focus is on the individual growth of each child and our campers range in age from 7 to 17. We run Sports, Arts, Performing Arts, Adventure, STEM, and Circus & Gymnastics programs on a daily basis across our beautiful facilities.

Our staff members may act as a general counselor at certain points of the day while teaching their chosen activity area for the majority. In addition, we understand that a large part of the staff experience is socializing and downtime is important. We have a calendar of staff activities and events for time off. We also have a great staff lounge and are currently investing in staff perks.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and lead a variety of outdoor adventure activities, such as hiking, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, ropes courses, and orienteering.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers during all outdoor activities, adhering to safety guidelines and protocols at all times.
- Provide instruction and guidance to campers on outdoor skills, including wilderness survival, navigation, knot tying, and outdoor cooking.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork, leadership, and personal growth among campers.
- Adapt activities to accommodate the skill levels and interests of campers, providing both challenge and support as needed.
- Supervise and mentor campers, encouraging them to overcome obstacles, build confidence, and develop a deeper appreciation for nature.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to integrate outdoor adventure activities into the overall camp program, ensuring a cohesive and engaging experience for campers.
- Maintain and care for outdoor equipment and facilities, conducting regular inspections and repairs as necessary.
- Serve as a role model for campers, embodying enthusiasm, responsibility, and a passion for outdoor adventure.
- Communicate effectively with camp leadership, fellow staff members, and parents to provide updates on camper progress, concerns, and achievements.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children in a camp or outdoor education setting preferred.
- Proficiency in outdoor adventure skills and activities, with certifications in relevant areas such as wilderness first aid, lifeguarding, or rock climbing instruction.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with and motivate campers of all ages and backgrounds.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and sound judgment in managing risk and ensuring the safety of participants.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude, particularly in dynamic and unpredictable outdoor environments.
- Commitment to upholding the values and mission of the summer camp, including promoting environmental stewardship and fostering a sense of community and respect for others.
Compensation. We pay very competitive rates to attract the best staff as well as travel allowance. Room and board plus weekly laundry is included so you really have no expenses at all while at camp!
