Outdoors Intern - Level II
EXPERIENTIAL INTERN FUNCTIONS:
• Operations & Maintenance of the Elm Fork Nature Preserve Center.
• Participation in department leadership meetings with opportunities to attend Parks and
Recreation Board and City Council meetings if the intern desires.
• Nature Center tours & Guest relations.
• Creation & implementation of strategic marketing, promotional plans, sponsorship outreach,
and grant research/writing.
• Program, event, and workshop creation, implementation, and evaluation of inclusive outdoor
activities.
• Introduction to and principles of budget development and management will be included in
the internship experience.
SUMMARY:
The City of Carrollton Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic
individual to join our team as an Outdoors Intern. This internship opportunity will be based out of
the Crosby Recreation Center and the Elm Fork Nature Preserve Center. The Outdoors Intern will play
a crucial role in assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of outdoor programs and
events. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of Outdoor
Recreation while working in a dynamic and supportive environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist with organizing and administrating outdoor programs, workshops, and events held at the
Elm Fork Nature Preserve Center.
• Assist with the creation and implementation of promotional strategies for outdoor programs and
events.
• Assist with registration processes, participant databases, and communications with outdoor
participants.
• Assist with the development and execution of educational workshops and training sessions for
outdoor enthusiasts.
• Collaborate with the Outdoors Coordinator to develop and implement creative content for social
media platforms, websites, and other marketing channels.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program. • Maintaining a 2.5 GPA or better. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: • Must pass a pre-employment drug test. • Must pass a criminal history check. • Must pass motor vehicle records check. • Minimum of 15 hours per week required; maximum of 40 hours per week.
