Associate Grants Advisor

Role Description

The associate grants advisor is responsible for developing compelling and effective reporting and fundraising communications that educate, engage, and help raise funds for HOPE International. They partner with regional representatives, providing strategic consulting. This person liaises between the operations, finance, advancement, and development teams to help manage the flow of content, information, and funds.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and contribute to the fulfillment of HOPE International’s mission and vision

Develop effective communications to educate, engage, and fundraise

  • Work with advancement leadership, regional representatives, finance, and operations to identify projects for funding, coordinate grant details and objectives, and design, write, and edit compelling proposals by established deadlines
  • Track reporting requirements and write and edit high-quality narrative reports throughout the year, while also meeting other donor and regional representative needs as they arise
  • Maintain and clearly express the consistency of HOPE International’s Christ-centered identity, voice, and brand throughout communications
  • Join supporter calls periodically to share about HOPE’s work and answer questions
  • Collect relevant content for use by the advancement team via interviews, note-taking, information sharing, and research of current events, politics, and economic trends impacting HOPE’s programs
  • Develop and pursue ways to gather content from the field
  • Annual domestic travel is required (two weeks per year, at a minimum); international travel may be required

Serve as trusted and valuable asset to the development team

  • Serve as regional representatives’ go-to liaison on HOPE’s operations and financial needs; conduct research and provide ongoing support to the whole development team as they raise funds and spread the message of HOPE’s work
  • Work one-on-one with at least three regional representatives to help develop fundraising materials and strategy to deepen relationships in their regions

 

Qualifications

  • Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Ability to work within and between departments, sometimes with competing goals; commitment to team goals and unity over the individual
  • Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of multiple competing demands
  • Ability to manage projects with minimal oversight, make effective inquiries, identify relevant facts, and translate technical details into concise, clear communications
  • Experience in a variety of written mediums, e.g., grant proposals or reports, newsletters, appeals, websites, brochures, or press releases
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Strong research, fact-checking, database, and analysis skills
  • Ability to give and receive constructive criticism
  • Attention to detail
  • Understanding of Scriptural mandates concerning those living in poverty

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in relief and development and/or fundraising
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial documents
  • Demonstrated experience in public speaking
  • Foreign language skills (Spanish or French)
  • Familiarity with AP Style
  • Adobe InDesign experience
  • International and cross-cultural experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and passion for Christ-centered microenterprise development
