Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. is looking for a results-oriented Service Engineer in Lyndhurst, VA. This role is for fresh engineering college graduates who enjoy complex problem solving and delivering custom-engineered solutions in the industrial refrigeration space. This is an on-the-job training position designed to transition into a Service Manager role within 18–24 months.

 

Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. is a premier custom design build contractor for industrial refrigeration systems, providing design, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and service in-house.

 

Job Role: The Service Engineer is responsible for learning and supporting all aspects of the Service Manager role. This includes mastering the delivery of custom engineered solutions, maintaining customer relationships, and leading field service teams. The position is ideal for technically minded individuals with strong leadership and communication skills who are eager to learn and grow within the industrial refrigeration industry.

 

Key Duties:

  • Learn to deliver engineered solutions for ongoing operations at customer facilities.
  • Develop strong customer relationships with facility, operations, and corporate personnel.
  • Support and eventually manage a team of field-based service technicians.
  • Coordinate scheduled maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and emergency support.
  • Quote service, repair, and upgrade projects to customers.
  • Manage service work orders using an online service platform.
  • Procure materials and equipment needed for service and warranty work.
  • Issue purchase orders and assist with billing submissions.
  • Resolve service-related purchase disputes and vendor credit requests.
  • Work with subcontractors as needed to ensure project completion.
  • Schedule inspections and perform administrative support for service operations.
  • Prepare sales orders for customer billing.
  • Participate in the on-call team to support emergency service calls (one weekday per week and one weekend per quarter).

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year program.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively across various platforms.
  • Mechanically minded and a strong problem solver.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong documentation abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic work environment.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (seated or standing) for extended periods.
  • Occasionally may need to lift or carry items up to 25 pounds (e.g., office supplies, small equipment).
