Camp Counselor

JOB TITLE:  Camp Counselor            

DEPARTMENT: Auxiliary Programs            

REPORTS TO: Sarah Shorten            

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt    

SEASON: Summer 2026 (Early June to Mid August)    

Position Summary:
Hathaway Brown’s Summer Camp is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and caring individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors. Counselors create a positive, engaging environment where campers feel safe, supported, and inspired to try new things.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and actively participate in daily camp activities, games, swimming lessons, and creative projects.
  • Foster a sense of community and teamwork among campers.
  • Model positive behavior and help guide children through social and emotional interactions.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow staff and camp leadership to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Ensure safety standards and protocols are met at all times.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older, with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreation setting preferred.
  • Ability to lead by example, maintain a positive attitude, and adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (training may be provided).

Schedule:
Seasonal, weekday hours between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., June through August.
