About Us Boulder County Farmers Markets (BCFM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is building a thriving local food system that uplifts agricultural producers and nourishes our neighbors for generations to come. We bridge the gap between growers and eaters by organizing Seasonal Farmers Markets in Boulder and Longmont, operating a year-round Food Hub that serves online and wholesale customers, and getting healthy, local food into the hands (and bellies) of families that rely on our Food Access programs.
Position Description: This year marks BCFM’s 40th Market Season—an exciting chapter in its nonprofit history. To celebrate this milestone anniversary, the Program & Events Intern will support the planning and execution of an events-based campaign focused on deepening our community’s awareness of and engagement with our food system. From guided tours of the farmers markets to hands-on educational experiences at local farms, the Program & Events intern will play a key role in coordinating logistics, hitting attendance goals, and measuring event success.
Internship Duties
● Work collaboratively with BCFM staff to plan and execute anniversary campaign events; attend meetings, communicate regularly, and provide support where it's needed most
● Support event logistics; coordinate with event leads, create talking points/content, support event marketing and promotion, and manage host/attendee communications as needed
● Provide on the ground support at events; keep speaking programs on schedule, provide customer service to guests, other activities as assigned
● Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills & Experience
● Experience working in groups and leading collaborative projects
● Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize, initiative to start projects or solve problems, and manage timeline from start to finish
● Proficiency in Google/G-Suite products, including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides
● Demonstrated interest in the local food system, environmental studies, agriculture, and/or community building
Physical Requirements
● Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
● Operate normal business office equipment ● Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
● Due to the events-based nature of this position, the right applicant will need to have transportation to locations throughout Boulder County, including rural farms
